Overview 5 Sutherland is a general medical/surgical unit that cares for patients with renal and liver disease, and those requiring inpatient rehabilitation. Patient diagnoses can include acute kidney and liver injury to end stage disease, including dialysis and transplant. Rehabilitation patients often have a diagnosis of traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, or other injury/disease requiring inpatient rehab. Patients range in age from neonates to young adult. 5 Sutherland also cares for patients with tracheostomies and other general medical/surgical patients. Please click here to see more information about 5 Sutherland: Intermediate Care Registered Nurses provide advanced illness management and health promotion for patients who require intermediate acuity of care. Intermediate Care Registered Nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, family-centered and age appropriate nursing care for patients requiring high acuity management. Intermediate Care nurses provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs. Intermediate Care Nurses coordinate patient care with nonprofessional personnel as necessary. Meets the educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their needs. Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable, efficient, and family-centered Utilizes current research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality Qualifications Associate's Degree ADN Required. Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and No Experience necessary / On-the-Job Training or Bachelor's Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. The pay range for this job begins at $31.50/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience. Remote Work/Work from Home This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
