Manufacturing Quality Engineer

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support launch and post-launch quality activities for Tesla's growing number of vehicle products and lines. This position will report to the Manufacturing Quality team within Tesla's Vehicle Engineering organization.In this role, you will provide support to the team in the execution of quality goals and objectives before, during, and after the launch phase for new products and lines. You will be expected to work cross-functionally and support the identification and prioritization of potential product and process failures and help drive both corrective and preventative actions.

What You'll Do

• Own discrete quality improvement projects from "concept to completion" in dynamic manufacturing environments

• Support quality validations during vehicle launches with the goal of implementing quality improvements and exceeding build quality targets

• Liaise with cross-functional teams to evaluate line and process designs during early concept phases

• Provide support during cross-functional review / roll-out of PFMEAs; provide input on control plans tailored to each new line

• Work cross-functionally to develop and implement robust quality systems

• Support definition of quality and process requirements as a part of Tesla's global operating standards

• Partner with design and manufacturing engineering counterparts to translate design requirements into functional quality controls that can withstand the demands of high-volume production

• Support quality root cause investigations and resolutions as they relate to factory-controllable issues

• Analyze manufacturing processes and product specifications in order to determine best practices that meet or exceed Tesla's quality standards

• Support the overall team in building and implementing appropriate quality audit standards and procedures

What You'll Bring

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience

• 2+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or a manufacturing-related industry

• Excellent problem-solver with a strong quality and customer-focused mindset

• Experience in automotive high-volume quality manufacturing engineering or process engineering

• Proactive and results-driven, with a focus on delivering outcomes in challenging environments

• Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally to Tesla's sites as needed, especially in support of new product and line launches

Expected Compensation $91,600 - $316,800/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
