The Production Manager owns overall 1st shift production performance — safety, quality, delivery, cost, and people — across multiple production lines/departments, leading a team of Production Supervisors and Team/Group Leaders. This role partners with plant leadership on staffing, capital planning, and continuous improvement strategy.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

● Lead and develop a team of Production Supervisors and Team/Group Leaders across 1st shift operations

● Own daily, weekly, and monthly production performance against safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) targets

● Drive standard work, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement (Kaizen, 5S, Six Sigma) across assigned areas

● Develop and manage production schedules in coordination with Production Control/Scheduling to meet customer demand

● Partner with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and HR to resolve systemic production issues and reduce downtime

● Manage departmental labor budget, overtime, and staffing plans; participate in workforce planning and hiring

● Lead root-cause analysis and corrective action for safety incidents, quality escapes, and delivery misses

● Champion a strong safety culture; ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety policies

● Present production performance updates and improvement plans to plant leadership

● Coach and develop supervisors and team leaders, supporting succession planning within the department

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

● Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial management, business, or related field preferred, or equivalent progressive manufacturing leadership experience

● 5+ years of progressive production leadership experience in automotive or high-volume manufacturing, including supervisory experience

● Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, IATF 16949/ISO quality systems, and OSHA safety requirements

● Demonstrated experience managing multiple lines/departments and leading supervisors/team leaders

● Strong analytical, budget, and workforce-planning skills; proficiency with MS Office and ERP/MES systems

● Excellent leadership, communication, and change-management skills
