Senior AI/ML Algorithms Systems Engineer

Location: Plano, TX, United States Raytheon is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in AI/ML algorithms to support advanced aerospace sensor programs. Responsibilities Be a member of the leadership team and manage AI/ML projects on the Algorithms team of Advanced Sensor Programs. Perform system-level performance analysis to evaluate and optimize advanced airborne sensor capabilities. Develop, refine, and analyze AI/ML algorithms to support mission-critical aerospace applications. Conduct trade studies to compare technical approaches and guide engineering decisions. Build statistical models and performance predictions for complex, multidisciplinary systems. Execute detailed data analyses following Raytheon engineering processes and best practices. Participate in formal and informal peer reviews; identify, track, and resolve technical issues. Provide clear, timely task status updates and deliver high-quality work products to the chief engineer. Interface daily with engineering teammates, other team leads, and cross‑functional partners to ensure technical alignment. Support customer and program presentations by contributing technical content and insights. Collaborate with both internal teams and external stakeholders to drive successful program outcomes. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in AI/ML and one or more of the following areas: signal processing algorithms/models, image processing algorithms/models, detection theory. Experience developing and implementing AI/ML signal processing algorithms for airborne surveillance applications, including signal and image processing, physics-constrained modeling, digital communications, or detection and estimation theory. Experience using software change management tools, version control systems, and established software development processes. Active and transferable U.S. government issued DoD Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications Active DoD Top Secret clearance. Advanced degree in STEM. Realtime programming for embedded or mission‑critical systems. Programming experience in C or C++ and hands‑on experience using MATLAB or Python for data analysis. AI/ML experience with Anaconda. Mathematical modeling and analytical problem‑solving skills. Experience with UNIX/Linux environments. Benefits Salary range: $86,800 - $165,200 USD.
