Variety: Video Editor

Variety is looking for a Video Editor to bring deep post-production expertise to Variety's Editorial Video operation. This individual should live and breathe entertainment news, understand Hollywood and its history, and stay current on trends across film, TV, and music. This Video Editor will primarily edit episodes of Variety's ongoing series — one day could be cutting a "Know Their Lines" episode, the next editing a "Directors on Directors" conversation, and the third turning a junket shoot into a polished "How Well Do They Know" piece on a tight deadline. The role will report to Variety's Head of Video. Key attributes Unparalleled command of Adobe Premiere Pro and the broader Creative Suite Strong instincts for story editing — finding the emotional arc of an interview, not just assembling the footage Skilled at timeline management, working on deadline, and juggling multiple projects simultaneously Collaborative work style in which communication and feedback are sought after to produce the highest quality work Comfortable working across formats — long-form editorial, vertical social cuts, event packages Partners with external freelancers as the team manages projects at larger scope Maintains internal archiving systems to ensure projects are properly backed up and findable As Variety values in-person collaboration and team cohesion, employees work onsite 4 days a week and 1 day remotely with a focus on maintaining a vibrant and inclusive culture. A good faith estimate of the salary range is $74,000 - 80,000k upon hire.
