Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in related nursing specialty preferred License: RN License in state of employment or compact required Certifications: BLS certification via AHA required Must-Have: Ability to float to all Med/Surg departments Description: The competent Nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting. Demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to plan for long-range goals. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Meets expectations of applicable competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Using appropriate protocols, administers medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.
