Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra‑curricular opportunities. The social worker in this 4 days/week position will be responsible for providing coverage to social workers on various inpatient and outpatient Pediatric and OB service areas. Responsibilities In this coverage role, the Social Worker will provide psychosocial support to children and families hospitalized or in ambulatory sub‑specialty programs with acute and clinical illnesses, as well as assure timely, safe discharges. Coverage in the OB‑GYN Associates clinical practice may include a variety of ambulatory and in‑patient services, including planning for safe mother‑baby discharge. The social worker collaborates with a large interdisciplinary group of providers and with many social work colleagues in Women and Children’s Health. This position is .8FTE (4 days) with working days per week TBD (must work on Fridays). Hours for the role are 9am – 5pm. Qualifications NYS LMSW or LCSW. Skills in rapid assessment and short‑term interventions, incorporating safe discharge planning. Knowledge of child development and women/children issues. Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Flexibility to work with a variety of multi‑disciplinary providers and in a range of practice areas. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Minimum one year in current position. Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $88691 - $101670.78 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
