Construction Accounting Specialist

Construction Accounting Specialist ER Contracting is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Construction Accounting Specialist to support the financial operations of our residential and commercial construction projects. This role is responsible for job cost tracking, accounts payable and receivable, and maintaining accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online and Excel. The ideal candidate brings strong construction accounting experience, a high level of accuracy, and the ability to manage multiple projects efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Perform full-cycle construction accounting, including job costingManage project cost tracking, budget analysis, and variance reportingPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsProcess accounts payable and support accounts receivable functionsPerform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracyPrepare and review journal entries and account reconciliationsMonitor project billing, retainage, lien waivers, and subcontractor paymentsSupport month-end and year-end close processesCollaborate with project managers on budgets, change orders, and forecastsMaintain accurate and organized financial documentationSupport cash flow management and financial planningEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal controlsUse Microsoft Excel to create and maintain job cost reports and financial modelsUtilize automation and AI-powered tools where applicable to improve accounting workflows and reporting efficiency Required Qualifications: Verifiable accounting experience in the construction industry (REQUIRED)Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, financial tracking)Experience with QuickBooks OnlineStrong understanding of job costing and percentage-of-completion accountingHigh attention to detail and strong organizational skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficient 10-key typing and data entry skillsCandidate must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable using formulas (REQUIRED) Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldExperience with accounts receivable and billing processesExperience performing balance sheet reconciliationsFamiliarity with journal entries and reconciliation processesExperience in a multi-project construction environmentCPA or CMA certification (a plus)Experience leveraging automation or AI-driven tools to streamline accounting processesExperience with tax preparation, filings, or working with business taxes is a plus Company Description At ER Contracting, we value integrity, professionalism, and craftsmanship.
