Security Operations Engineer

Salary: $79,800 - 108,000 per year Requirements:

• We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• We look for 5+ years of hands-on experience in Security Engineering, Security Planning, or Security Operations.
• We require 2+ years of network administration or engineering experience and 2+ years of system administration experience.
• We expect advanced knowledge of security technologies and experience working in medium to complex computing environments.
• We look for hands-on experience with two or more enterprise security technologies such as IPS/IDS, VPNs (SSL/IPsec), firewalls, NAC, Windows/Linux operating systems, packet inspection, or directory services (LDAP/AD).
• We require a strong understanding of network architecture and core concepts, including routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, subnetting, and security dependencies across server/VM environments.
• We look for experience implementing security technologies, performing risk assessments, and integrating security controls into operational frameworks.
• Preferred qualifications include professional security certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISSP ISSAP, or SANS.
• Preferred experience includes endpoint security solutions such as EDR, AV, and DLP, as well as web filtering tools like Palo Alto, Forcepoint, or Sophos.
• Strong technical documentation skills are preferred, including the ability to produce reports, proposals, SOWs, and white papers.
• We value the ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities in a team setting.

• We design, build, test, and deploy new security technologies, including preparing operational documentation and runbooks.
• We evaluate, recommend, integrate, and automate security tools and processes to strengthen protection for corporate assets and infrastructure.
• We conduct security risk assessments, exposure analyses, and architecture reviews to support secure and cost-effective system and network performance.
• We produce periodic and ad hoc security reports that provide situational awareness to senior stakeholders.
• We analyze network security components and architectural designs to maintain strong performance, security, and operational resilience.
• We monitor and manage networks, systems, and infrastructure for attacks, malware, intrusions, and vulnerabilities, including full remediation of affected systems.
• We implement, operate, and tune enterprise security technologies such as IPS/IDS, vulnerability scanners, encryption, and endpoint protection.
• We support security audits, compliance reviews, and risk management activities, including required documentation and remediation follow-up.
• We participate in or lead incident response activities and provide rotational after-hours on-call support.
• We develop and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, controls, risk management plans, and incident response plans.
• We conduct security assessments and penetration tests to identify and evaluate vulnerabilities across systems and networks.
• We manage, configure, and monitor security tools and technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, and antivirus platforms.
• We investigate, contain, and remediate cybersecurity incidents, including breaches, malware, and other threats.
• We provide cybersecurity training to employees to promote awareness and safe practices.
• We stay current on emerging threats, trends, and best practices through continuous learning and industry engagement.
