Lead Custodian, Auxiliary Facilities ServicesUC Riverside's Auxiliary Facilities Services is recruiting for a Lead Custodian. The full salary range for the Lead Custodian is $21.05 - $28.89 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.The Lead Custodian leads, guides and performs a variety of custodial/housekeeping tasks to care, maintain, disinfect, sanitize, and preserve campus facilities. Responsible to clean, dust, strip, wax, sweep, mop, polish, disinfect, sanitize, vacuum, replenish restrooms, and remove refuse/recycling throughout campus facilities, conference rooms, elevators, stairwells, exteriors, etc. May work independently or as part of a team in assigned work areas. Oversees critical day-to-day operations in supervisor's absence; acts as a subject matter expert and provides leadership to custodial/housekeeping staff who perform such tasks. Maintains a positive attitude and communicates effectively with colleagues, supervisors, staff, faculty and students.Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.Educational RequirementsHigh School Diploma - RequiredExperience RequirementsMinimum of two (2) years of experience in custodial/housekeeping operations with an emphasis in floor care; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. - RequiredExperience in safe use of a wide variety of equipment and machinery common to custodial services including, but not limited to; stripping/buffing machines, vacuums, steam pressure washers, wet/dry shop vacuums, carpet extractors (bonnet, dry, hydro extraction) cleaning machines, raiding flooring cleaning machines, squeegees, brushes, etc. - RequiredExperience in safe use of cleaning chemicals, their interactions, danger signs and disposal methods. - RequiredExperience in proper procedures for cleaning and maintaining a variety of floor surfaces including, but not limited to resilient tile floors, carpeted floors and terrazzo floors. - RequiredOne (1) year of experience leading or supervising custodial/housekeeping staff and operations. - PreferredPrior experience and ability to prioritizing work orders, routine work, emergency requests, combined with the knowledge to choose the proper materials and equipment to accomplish the work in the most expeditious and safe manner. - PreferredExperience working with a diverse student, staff, faculty and visitor population and ability to provide exemplary customer service. - PreferredLicense RequirementsRequired to hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program. - RequiredSpecial ConditionsHired candidate must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment start date. - RequiredMust possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles. - RequiredPublic Driving Record - RequiredOvertime - RequiredShift Work (hours outside standard Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM work hours) - RequiredMust wear University issued ID badge and uniform. - RequiredDepending on assigned work area, may require specific training, testing, and/or recurring background checks. - RequiredMinimum RequirementsAbility to read write and communicate effectively in the English language with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
