CDL DriverSalary Range $26.00 - $35.00 Hourly Position Type Full TimeJob OverviewVM West, LLC is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious CDL Driver to support vegetation management operations throughout the New Mexico Region. This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, storm trucks, and chip trucks, to transport equipment, materials, wood chips, debris, and other vegetation-related materials to and from assigned job sites.Key ResponsibilitiesSafely operate commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, storm trucks, chip trucks, and other assigned company vehicles.Transport wood chips, brush, logs, debris, aggregate, equipment, and other materials to and from designated job sites and disposal locations.Operate dump truck beds, hydraulic systems, and other truck-mounted equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company safety procedures.Coordinate with field supervisors and crew members to ensure timely transportation and disposal of materials.Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report mechanical defects, damage, or safety concerns.Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation in accordance with DOT regulations and company policies.Ensure vehicles are operated within applicable weight limits and that loads are properly secured and transported safely.Follow all applicable federal and state DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety policies.Safely navigate rural roads, mountain terrain, unimproved roads, and other challenging driving conditions common to vegetation management operations.Participate in required safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings.Communicate effectively with supervisors, field crews, dispatch personnel, and other company representatives.Perform other related duties as assigned.QualificationsValid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) of the appropriate class for assigned vehicles.Acceptable driving record that meets company and insurance requirements.Knowledge of applicable DOT regulations, commercial vehicle inspection requirements, and safe driving practices.Ability to safely operate commercial trucks and associated hydraulic or truck-mounted equipment.Ability to perform required vehicle inspections and identify mechanical or safety concerns.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a field-based environment.Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.Willingness to travel to assigned job sites throughout the New Mexico Region and other locations as operationally required.Ability to meet applicable DOT driver qualification and medical certification requirements.Physical RequirementsAbility to sit and operate commercial vehicles for extended periods.Ability to frequently enter and exit commercial trucks and access vehicle steps, ladders, and platforms safely.Ability to walk and work on uneven, rocky, steep, or otherwise challenging terrain.Ability to perform physical activities associated with vehicle inspections, equipment preparation, material handling, and field support.Ability to bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive movements as required.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, snow, and dusty environments.Ability to safely perform essential job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.Work EnvironmentThis position primarily operates in outdoor field environments supporting vegetation management operations throughout New Mexico. Work assignments may include remote job sites, utility rights-of-way, rural roadways, and areas with limited access.Work schedules may vary based on operational needs, weather conditions, and project requirements.
