Construction Corporate Counsel

Kforce has a client in Arcadia, CA that is seeking a Construction Corporate Counsel. This position will be in a hybrid working schedule. Responsibilities:
- Advise project teams on construction law, contracts, and delivery strategy to protect the business's legal position
- Manage construction litigation and collection matters, coordinating with outside counsel and preserving payment rights
- Serve as construction law SME, overseeing outside counsel selection, performance, and costs
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts, change orders, and vendor agreements; Maintain standard templates
- Prepare legal briefs, research, and discovery; Represent the company in hearings and arbitrations
- Support corporate governance, entity management, and Board/Committee materials
- Track and analyze legal metrics, manage budgets, and recommend risk mitigation strategies
- Deliver internal training, handle subpoenas, and improve processes based on lessons learned
- Perform other duties as assigned
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active California Bar membership (in good standing)
- 10+ years of construction law experience, including civil litigation
- Strong knowledge of construction law, including liens, payment bonds, and contract performance
- Ability to quickly conduct accurate legal research beyond primary expertise
- Excellent drafting skills for contracts, policies, and legal documents
- Strong decision-making with ownership, accountability, and results focus
- Effective communication and collaboration across all organizational levels
- Proficient with legal and business tools (Gmail, Google Drive, Smartsheet, Box, MS Office, Westlaw, OneLegal)
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to clearly articulate and defend business strategies
