Job Overview Under general supervision, perform repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Tasks include carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conduct routine inspections to determine needed repair and maintenance work, use hand and power tools to test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machines and equipment, read blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications, and provide support and leadership guidance to all volunteers. All duties are performed in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable Federal, State and local regulations. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance. Regional travel is involved and the position reports to the Portland facility all five days a week. The hourly range for this position is $22.26–$23.73/hr. Salary is aligned to the specific geographic location of the work and may be influenced by skills, experience, and comparison to other employees in the role. Key Responsibilities Maintain and repair the organization’s facilities and properties, including routine tasks such as patching holes, repairing or replacing concrete floors, stairs, and sidewalks, painting structures and equipment, and installing and correcting minor electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and structural problems. Document installations and repairs as required by regulatory agencies. Install, operate, and service boilers, chillers, motors, fans, pumps, and related mechanical equipment. Move and store furniture and equipment. Estimate time and material costs of projects, requisition new supplies and equipment. Plant and tend flowerbeds, prune shrubs and trees, water lawns, shrubs, and flowerbeds, spray fertilizer and insecticides, rake and remove fallen leaves, sweep external walkways and staircases, and remove snow using power removal equipment or shovel. Apply snow‑melting chemical when necessary on company roads, walkways, and outside staircases. Drive vehicle to other locations when required. Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent required; trade license may be required. Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including painting, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Basic computer skills. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work on a team. A current valid driver’s license and good driving record. On‑call duties may be required. Travel required; driver experience desirable. Preferred Qualifications Strong customer service skills. Familiarity with facility management systems such as EMAX. Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Suite. Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a highly matrixed environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Physical Requirements Use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear regularly. Lifting and moving objects 10–50 lbs frequently; lifting and moving objects over 100 lbs with assistance or a powered industrial truck. Push carts weighing up to 250 lbs on flat flooring or ramps. Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl frequently; sit and climb or balance occasionally. Required visual abilities: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools and work with various chemicals and solvents. Ladders may be required for top‑level selection. Ability to move or lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
