ARRT-CI Interventional Radiology Technologist
Join a dynamic team as an Interventional Radiology Technologist specializing in invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role involves operating and ensuring the quality of imaging equipment, patient monitoring, and film processing. You will actively participate in various procedural roles including scrub, float, and imaging technologist duties within the Special Procedures department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Perform all procedures within the Special Procedures radiology section with competence and efficiency, providing care to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Operate technical equipment skillfully and maintain quality assurance standards.
- Serve as a communication link between nursing staff, unit secretaries, and physicians regarding orders, scheduling, and procedure status.
- Assess patients, review charts, lab results, and prior imaging; ensure safety data completion and communicate with interventionalists.
- Prepare patients for procedures, answer questions within scope, and direct other inquiries appropriately.
- Maintain a safe environment adhering to radiation safety, contrast administration, and infection control protocols.
- Document patient care accurately and manage billing procedures through the computer system.
- Engage in continuous professional development, including mandatory annual training and staying current with procedural methodologies and equipment.
- Foster excellent patient and visitor relations using effective communication techniques such as AIDET.
- Contribute to clinical education of student technologists and participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives.
- Support teamwork and departmental goals by assisting across areas and promoting effective communication.
Education and certifications required:
- ARRT (R) certification is required.
- Cardiovascular Interventional (CV) or Vascular Interventional (VI) registry required; VI registry eligible candidates have two years to obtain certification.
- American Heart Association CPR certification provided through internal training.
- Required Licenses: RT(R)(CI)(VI) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Experience and requirements include:
- Demonstrated ability to perform interventional radiology procedures with technical proficiency.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and continuous improvement.
