1st shift - Grinder - $16/hr- Grand Rapids

Come work at a local tortilla chip manufacturer in Grand Rapids!

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ensure that proper supplies are positioned to the assigned workstation, and if not communicate with other personnel to ensure that all necessary supplies and materials are positioned to the workstation.
• Start the machine, perform pre-production check to ensure it is functioning properly
• Check paperwork to determine which tanks to draw from and in proper sequence, assemble and hook up pumps to appropriate cook tanks and tumbler begin the process.
• Pump corn into the tumbler to wash corn and remove skin and drop into bins from the conveyor to be discarded and dump bins as required.
• Perform moisture checks periodically on masa and make appropriate adjustments to maintain the proper moisture levels.
• Monitor the process, adjust the grinder as needed, and change grinding stones when worn out or as directed.
• Transfer completed masa to the Sheeter / Toaster area.
• Assist Corn Cooker as needed.
• Make minor corrections and adjustments, communicate and assist other production and maintenance personnel as required.
• Keep work areas and storage areas clear, clean, and organized. Place trash / non-conforming product in proper receptacles.
• Complete other related duties as assigned or directed by the Supervisor, at end of shift, perform general housekeeping as required.
• All employees have the responsibility to report food, safety, and quality problems immediately to Management or Quality.

Preferred Skills:

• Must be able to read, write and effectively communicate with co-workers and management as it relates to the job
• and the safety regulations.
• Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform the job.
• Must participate in company orientation and training.
• Must submit to background check, mandatory drug testing and not possess any significant criminal record as determined by the appropriate authorities.
• Must be able to work the scheduled / assigned times and required overtime for the position.
• Must be able to perform all job functions safely.
• Experience in food processing or related fields is preferred.
• Must be able to perform basic math / calculations.

The primary function of this position is to set-up and pump cooked corn from cook tanks into wash tumbler, monitor the grinding process and moisture levels of the masa and transfer to sheeting / toasting process, in a timely manner, observing all safety regulations, ensuring all GMP and quality standards are met and to maintain the efficient flow of product through the production process.
