Environmental Health and Safety Consultant (EHS)

Position Summary Jupiter Aluminum is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Consultant to support plant operations on a contingent basis. This role will assist in maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety regulations while promoting a strong safety culture throughout the facility. Key Responsibilities Support compliance with OSHA, EPA, IDEM, and other applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining site EHS programs, policies, procedures, and training materials. Conduct routine floor audits, job hazard analyses (JHAs), risk assessments, and behavioral safety observations. Identify unsafe conditions and behaviors; recommend, track, and verify corrective actions. Provide day-to-day guidance to supervisors, maintenance, and production employees on safe work practices. Assist with incident, injury, and near-miss investigations, including root cause analysis and documentation. Maintain OSHA logs and support workers’ compensation and claim documentation. Monitor compliance with PPE, machine guarding, LOTO, confined space, hot work, fall protection, and contractor safety programs. Participate in and help lead safety committee meetings. Deliver or coordinate safety training, new hire orientation, and refresher courses. Assist with environmental compliance including waste management, inspections, stormwater, air, and recycling programs. Support permit tracking and required regulatory reporting. Review contractor activities to ensure adherence to plant safety requirements. Track leading and lagging indicators; prepare reports and dashboards for management. Assist leadership in driving continuous improvement and achieving plant safety goals. Help prepare for and participate in external or corporate EHS audits. Serve as a visible presence on the production floor to reinforce a proactive safety culture. Support emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response planning. Working Conditions Work is performed in both office and manufacturing environments with exposure to noise, chemicals, and heavy machinery. Requires frequent walking, standing, and climbing stairs/ladders in an industrial setting. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Availability for on-call support in case of emergencies or incidents. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing or industrial setting; metal processing or coil coating experience preferred. Deep knowledge of OSHA 1910/1926, NFPA, ANSI, EPA, and applicable West Virginia environmental regulations. Experience with hazard assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and root cause investigations. Proficiency in EHS management systems and regulatory reporting tools. Relevant certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are desirable. Behavioral Competencies Leadership: Proactive leadership in promoting a safety‑first culture. Continuous Improvement: Dedication to identifying and applying EHS best practices. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, and move throughout the industrial facility for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces as required.Must be able to wear and work in PPE for extended durations.
