Details Step Down unit in an acute care hospital setting 1:4 patient ratio Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30) Every other weekend required, either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation No on-call responsibilities Floats to lower acuity floors within scope as needed Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active RN license (MO or compact) required BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required Minimum 2 years of RN experience required Must have worked at the bedside within the last 6 months High acuity stepdown or ICU experience required Travel experience within the last 6 months required Trauma Level II experience required Skilled in titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips Experience managing trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes No exceptions for facial hair that interferes with respirator fit testing Additional Information Care for high-acuity stepdown patients including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical populations Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams Skilled nursing duties include wound care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management Navy scrub color required First-time travelers are not accepted for this position Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler Returning travelers must complete an 18-month period with a required 3-month break in service Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week Contract length is firm at 13 weeks American Traveler Job ID P-750745.
