Job Summary: An oncology surgeon focuses on the surgical management of malignant neoplasms (cancer). The surgeon establishes the diagnosis and provides the preoperative, operative and postoperative care to surgical patients and is usually responsible for the comprehensive management of the trauma victim and the critically ill surgical patient.

Job Duties:

• Our Geisinger Surgical Oncologist team is seeking a BE/BC Surgical Oncologist that is hardworking, energetic, work collaboratively with peers and other multidisciplinary providers, advance practitioners and specialty staff (licensed and non-licensed), excellent communication skills, focus on patient access and patient satisfaction
• Details: Breast Program, NAPBC Certified, GI Multidisciplinary Clinic, Well established Tumor Board and Cancer Committee, Participation in Clinical Trial, EMR: EPIC, Hospital Based Clinic (HOP), JCAHO accredited integrated health system
• New Cancer Center - opened 2022!
• 100% Clinical position with ability to teach Residents & Medical Students

• Multidisciplinary approach to the treatment of solid tumors
• Lymphatic mapping and sentinel lymph node dissection
• Radiofrequency ablation for hepatic neoplasms
• Advanced Laparoscopy training
• Surgical ultrasounds
• Breast ultrasounds and image-guided breast biopsy
• Transabdominal/intraoperative/laparoscopic abdominal ultrasounds
• Cyberknife clinical training
• Microwave ablation of hepatic tumor
• Laparoscopic ablation of hepatic tumor
• Hepatic ultrasound open and laparoscopic
• Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy

Position Details:

• Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
• Diagnose and design a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.

Education: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine- (Required)
