Millwright SupervisorThe Millwright Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating millwright and mechanical maintenance activities in an industrial environment. This role supervises field personnel, contractors, and maintenance crews engaged in the installation, repair, alignment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of rotating and stationary equipment. The Millwright Supervisor ensures all work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards, production requirements, and regulatory guidelines.This position supports daily maintenance operations, outages, shutdowns, and reliability initiatives within facilities such as refineries, petrochemical plants, paper mills, power plants, and heavy manufacturing operations.Supervision & LeadershipSupervise and direct millwright crews, contractors, and mechanical maintenance personnel.Assign daily work activities and ensure proper manpower utilization.Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and technical guidance to maintenance teams.Monitor workforce productivity, performance, and adherence to safety standards.Conduct daily toolbox meetings and communicate work priorities.Mechanical Maintenance OperationsOversee maintenance, installation, troubleshooting, and repair of: PumpsCompressorsMotorsGearboxesConveyorsTurbinesFans and blowersRotating equipmentEnsure proper equipment alignment, balancing, and precision maintenance practices.Coordinate preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.Support emergency repair and breakdown response efforts.Safety & ComplianceEnsure compliance with: OSHA regulationsSite safety requirementsProcess Safety Management (PSM) standardsEnforce safe work practices including: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)Confined space entryHot work permittingRigging and lifting proceduresParticipate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective actions.Promote a strong safety-first culture.Planning & SchedulingCoordinate with maintenance planners and operations personnel to prioritize and schedule maintenance work.Support outage, turnaround, and shutdown planning activities.Ensure required tools, materials, permits, and equipment are available prior to job execution.Monitor work progress and adjust resources as needed to meet operational demands.Quality AssuranceEnsure maintenance work is completed according to company standards, OEM specifications, and engineering requirements.Verify proper installation and repair techniques are followed.Minimize rework through effective supervision and quality control practices.Reliability & Continuous ImprovementAssist with root cause analysis and equipment failure investigations.Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.Support continuous improvement and reliability-centered maintenance initiatives.Administrative ResponsibilitiesReview and approve: Daily reportsTimekeeping recordsWork ordersMaintenance documentationUtilize CMMS systems such as: SAPIBM MaximoTrack maintenance KPIs and crew performance metrics.QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or GED required.Technical training or millwright apprenticeship preferred.Experience8–15+ years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience.3–5+ years of supervisory experience in industrial maintenance environments.Experience in: RefineriesPetrochemical plantsPaper millsPower plantsHeavy manufacturing facilities preferred.Skills & KnowledgeStrong knowledge of: Rotating equipment maintenancePrecision alignmentRigging and liftingMechanical troubleshootingAbility to read and interpret: P&IDsMechanical drawingsEquipment schematicsStrong leadership and communication skills.Experience with predictive maintenance technologies preferred.Preferred CertificationsNCCER Millwright CertificationOSHA 30NCCCO Rigging/Signal Person (preferred)TWIC Card (for refinery/petrochemical access)Physical RequirementsAbility to work in industrial environments including: Elevated areasConfined spacesOutdoor conditionsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.Work EnvironmentIndustrial facilities such as refineries, petrochemical plants, paper mills, and manufacturing sites.Combination of field supervision and administrative responsibilities.May require: Extended hoursWeekend workOutage/turnaround supportEmergency call-outs
