Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology

Overview The Nurse practitioner practices in Specialty Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality - timeliness - and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice - consultation - and management. Our ideal applicants are those who want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards - as well as the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program. Responsibilities As a Licensed Independent Provider - the Nurse Practitioner practices autonomously and in coordination with health care professionals and other individuals The incumbent provides a wide range of health care services - including the diagnosis and management of acute - chronic - and complex health problems health promotion disease prevention health education and counseling to individuals - families - groups and communities Must be an excellent communicator and team player who is adaptable to the needs of a growing medical center Other Duties and responsibilities include - but are not limited to: Perform initial and interim history and physical examinations as assigned Assess patients to determine the need for hospital admission - and admits patients when indicated and collaborating physician concurrence Providing and coordinating comprehensive care for assigned patients in any care setting - including telehealth Initiate and/or expedite requests for consultations - special tests - or studies on assigned patients and inform physician of outcomes Monitor/Interpret EKG changes during testing Supervise exercise stress tests and myocardial perfusion scans Conduct nuclear or echocardiographic stress tests using exercise and pharmacological protocols Provide necessary patient education and apply currently accepted preventative health care measures Document pacemaker and defibrillator follow-ups and interrogations Assist in the monitoring of the national surveillance center data for cardiac devices Evaluate patient response to treatment plans Assist cardiologist with cardioversion and TEE Obtain informed consent from patients for cardiac procedures Evaluated facility patient care delivery systems within the cardiology clinic Facilitates the delivery of patient care in collaboration with the other health professionals - health managers - and other health care personnel Assures self-development responsibilities and maintains current knowledge of trends in cardiovascular medicine Provide education/counseling to the patient/family Perform all other duties as assigned VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary - regular salary increases - potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave - 13 days of sick leave - 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Telework: Not available Virtual: This is not a virtual position Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not authorized Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized #J-18808-Ljbffr U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
