Jensen Hughes seeks highly experienced and motivated Fire Alarm System Designers/Consultants to join our team in Phoenix, AZ. This role supports a fast-paced project through consulting, design, review, and field oversight activities. The position requires technical depth, sound judgment, and effective client interfacing.

This role involves the design, evaluation, and consulting of fire alarm and mass notification systems. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, and the ability to lead projects and collaborate effectively with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design, Consulting, and Technical Oversight

• Lead and execute fire alarm and/or mass notification system design from concept through construction.
• Develop detailed, code-compliant fire alarm drawings using design industry tools.
• Review architectural and engineering drawings to ensure life safety and fire code compliance.

Project Execution and Field Activities

• Act as the owner's representative for fire alarm systems during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
• Conduct site assessments and field surveys to evaluate existing conditions and fire alarm installations.
• Prepare and review design, shop drawing, and construction submittals for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Support testing, commissioning, and acceptance activities, including preparation of test plans, witnessing tests, and documenting results.

Client, Contractor, and Team Coordination

• Coordinate and collaborate with engineers, architects, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, and internal project teams.
• Interface directly with clients to communicate technical findings, recommendations, and project status.
• Manage technical aspects of projects, including schedules, workload planning, and adherence to approved scopes of work.

Quality, Compliance, and Leadership

• Stay current on applicable codes, standards, and emerging technologies.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

Minimum Requirements

• Progressive experience in fire alarm system design, consulting, or inspection.
• Proficiency with design software.

Preferred Qualifications

• NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems preferred.
• Proficiency with ASPIRE™ software is a plus.
• Strong working knowledge of NFPA codes, life safety standards, and local jurisdictional requirements.
• Experience with mass notification systems and integrated life safety solutions preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting client and schedule commitments.

Additional Considerations

• Candidates with significant industry experience in fire alarm system design, inspection, or code consulting are desired.
