This will be the first time in history that both races have departed from the same country, outside of France. A landmark social impact programme will also be delivered across the UK, tackling inactivity, improving mental wellbeing, boosting economic growth and supporting communities to thrive. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) – Grand Départ GB 2027 – will maintain oversight of the delivery of the events and will manage public funding on behalf of DCMS, Scottish Government, Welsh Government and UK Sport. The SPV is a Joint Venture between UKEL (a new sports events company) and British Cycling. British Cycling will deliver the operational and business functions, social impact and volunteer programmes, along with all consumer-facing functions, on behalf of partners. We are now recruiting for a Logistics Manager to join our growing Operations Team. Reporting to the Events Operations Lead, this role will be responsible for the planning, coordination and delivery of the operational logistics that will support the safe and successful delivery of the Tour de France and Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Grand Départs 2027. The scale and geographical spread of the event requires dedicated resource to oversee all logistical elements, including, but not limited to, volunteer and workforce deployment, equipment and fleet management. This is a critical role within the delivery team and will contribute significantly to the successful delivery of the event. What will you be doing? As Logistics Manager You Will Be Responsible For Overseeing the operational planning and delivery of the logistics programme across all stages of the Grand Départ 2027. Coordinating equipment requirements, distribution and storage. Oversee the event’s approach to the dissolution of assets Working closely with Route Operations, Venue Operations, Workforce, Safety and Host Local Authority teams to ensure deployment plans are fully integrated into wider event operations. In partnership with the volunteer team, support deployment planning for the volunteer workforce across multiple host locations and route operational areas. Planning and coordinating welfare hub operations, ensuring facilities, equipment, staffing and support services meet operational requirements. Managing volunteer and workforce transport planning, including movement to and from deployment locations, shuttle services and transport providers where required. Support the Event Operations Lead in coordinating volunteer and workforce catering provision across all event locations, ensuring staff receive appropriate refreshments and meals during operational shifts. Developing and implementing welfare plans to support volunteer and workforce wellbeing before, during and after deployment across welfare hubs and route locations. Supporting contingency planning and operational resilience measures relating to deployment, transport disruptions and adverse weather conditions. Maintaining detailed operational plans, deployment schedules, transport manifests and logistics documentation. Managing logistics-related budgets and supplier relationships, ensuring services are delivered within agreed scope and budget. Working with the event’s existing operational planning tools to support accurate control measures and reporting. Part of the central operations function, you will be the key operational lead for logistics during event-time delivery. What We’re Looking For Proven experience in logistics, workforce or volunteer logistics or operational planning within major events, sports events, festivals, public sector programmes or similar large-scale environments. Experience managing complex deployment plans involving large numbers of people and ‘things’ across multiple locations. Strong understanding of transport, logistics and operational delivery principles. Experience coordinating welfare, catering, accommodation or workforce support services. Ability to develop and manage detailed operational plans, schedules and resource allocation models. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, local authorities, suppliers and delivery partners. Experience managing operational budgets and supplier relationships. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment. Strong problem-solving capabilities and the confidence to make decisions in dynamic operational settings. Experience working with workforce management systems, planning tools or event management software would be advantageous. A collaborative and flexible approach, with the ability to contribute to the delivery of a world-class international sporting event. You bring strong organisational and communication skills and are comfortable coordinating activity across a wide geographical area and multiple stakeholder groups. You thrive in highly operational environments and can balance strategic planning with hands-on delivery. You are proactive, adaptable and resilient, maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach under pressure. Knowledge of major events, workforce operations or cycling is beneficial, but your ability to plan, coordinate and deliver large-scale operational programmes is what will set you apart. Understanding of major closed road events and the complexities of delivering across similar scale events / footprints is preferable.
