Field Service Technician II - Utilities

Primary Job Responsibilities Conduct all assigned work safely, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations, and wear proper personal protective equipment. Attend and successfully complete required technician training classes. Maintain the necessary set of tools required for job performance to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble components to manufacturer specifications. Diagnose and perform designated repairs on customer or company‑owned equipment, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs. Work in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways to improve methods of work, the work area, and safety standards. Inspect components to ensure maximum parts are reused to control repair costs. Complete required documentation using appropriate software to record repairs performed and account for repair times. Monitor job expenses versus repair estimates and ensure the supervisor is alerted of any cost overruns before the job is completed. Approach work positively, maintain conduct supportive of the team, set the standard for others, and contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations. Train and/or mentor others in the department and perform other duties as assigned. Required Credentials Valid driver’s license. Successfully completed all required training curriculum to be designated Service Field Tech II. Preferred Criteria Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and relevant dealer software programs. Work Environment Stress Load : regular exposure to stress (20–80% of the time). Workload Fluctuation : frequent changes in priorities, complexity, and quantity of work. Work Schedule : scheduled during regular business hours with frequent requirements to work nights, holidays, and weekends. Outside conditions: no effective protection from weather. Extreme cold: temperatures below 32°F for periods >1 hour. Extreme heat: temperatures above 100°F for periods >1 hour. Noise: sufficient to require shouting to be heard. Vibration: exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body. Hazards: exposure to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, heat, or chemicals. Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
