Registered Nurse - Step-Down Telemetry

Job Summary

This role is for an experienced Registered Nurse to join a dynamic 24-bed telemetry unit, which includes the capability to care for up to 8 step-down patients. The unit is located in Elmira, New York, and features large patient rooms with private bathrooms and showers, promoting a comfortable healing environment.

As part of a dedicated Team Nursing model, you will provide comprehensive care to a diverse patient population requiring cardiac monitoring and higher acuity interventions. Patient ratios are maintained at approximately 3:1 for telemetry patients, and for step-down patients, ratios are 5:1 on day shifts and 6:1 on night shifts.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative team, ensuring high-quality patient outcomes in a specialized cardiac care setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely and accurately according to physician orders and facility protocols.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and neurological status.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, responding appropriately to changes in patient condition.
• Provide direct patient care within a Team Nursing framework, ensuring continuity and coordination of services.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and discharge instructions.

• Experience in Telemetry and/or Step-Down units.
