About the Position

Job Title: Observation Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Sub-Acute Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year required License: Active nursing license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Charge experience preferred, experience with EPIC charting system required Description: Floating between various like units is required. Travelers regularly float between units within their skill set. Position involves caring for observation patients. Required ratios are 1:4 during days, 1:5 during night shifts, and 1:5 on weekends. Weekends are required every other weekend. No call is required at this time. Pending licenses are not accepted. Special requirements include managing surgical procedures requiring overnight stays and caring for medical observation patients. Knowledge of accessing and managing ports and blood product administration is necessary. Experience in colostomy/ileostomy management, feeding tube care, and managing patients with traumatic brain injury is expected. Candidates should also be skilled in wound care and aware of isolation precautions. The unit provides interdisciplinary support, including physical therapy and social services. Patients will range from long length of stay patients to acute medical patients. The goal of the unit is to support patients in reaching their baseline or better for successful placement in appropriate care facilities. Special equipment available includes lifts for every bed and various mobility aids. References covering one year within the last three years are required for compliance. Completion of non-billable modules is required prior to start and annually thereafter.
