Ingenium Talent is working with a Louisville-based organization on their search for a full time

z/OS Mainframe Systems Engineer to support and maintain their enterprise mainframe environment. This role is primarily focused on the day-to-day operational support, stability, availability, and performance of the client's z/OS platform. The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of hands-on experience supporting z/OS mainframe systems, with strong technical expertise in disaster recovery, storage management, DASD, CICS, and SCLM. Our client is looking for knowledgeable, dependable professional who can troubleshoot complex technical issues, support critical infrastructure, and help ensure the reliability and resilience of the mainframe environment. The successful candidate will take ownership of daily platform support, bring strong technical expertise to complex mainframe challenges, and work closely with the client's technical teams to maintain a reliable and resilient z/OS environment.

This is a full-time, onsite position in Louisville, KY. Candidates must currently reside in the Louisville area or be willing to relocate. Remote work is not available for this role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily operational support and maintenance for the client's z/OS mainframe platform.
• Monitor system health, availability, and performance, identifying and resolving issues to maintain a stable production environment.
• Support mainframe disaster recovery planning, testing, procedures, and recovery readiness.
• Manage and troubleshoot mainframe storage environments, including DASD configuration, utilization, and performance.
• Provide technical support for CICS environments, including troubleshooting and maintaining application availability.
• Support SCLM and related mainframe development and change management processes.
• Investigate and resolve complex system issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Assist with system maintenance, configuration changes, upgrades, and ongoing platform improvements.
• Collaborate with application development, database, network, storage, and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues and support business operations.
• Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and disaster recovery documentation.
• Follow established change management, security, and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting an IBM z/OS mainframe platform.
• Strong experience with mainframe disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution.
• Strong experience with mainframe storage administration and management.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with DASD, CICS, and SCLM
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills within a mainframe environment.
• Experience supporting production systems in an enterprise environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Louisville, KY, either as a current local resident or through relocation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting business-critical mainframe environments with high availability requirements.
• Familiarity with mainframe system performance monitoring and problem determination.
• Experience with production change control, system maintenance, and operational documentation.
• Experience participating in disaster recovery exercises and business continuity initiatives.
