DESCRIPTION
The County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Social Worker at the Yolo County Sheriff's Office Detention Center.
THE POSITION The Social Worker provides professional social work services to individuals housed in the county jail, including assessment, case management, crisis intervention, resource coordination, and referrals to appropriate community services. The position works collaboratively with custody staff, behavioral health professionals, healthcare providers, and community partners to address individual needs and support successful transitions to the community. IDEAL CANDIDATE The ideal candidate is a compassionate and skilled Social Worker with strong assessment, case management, communication, and problem-solving skills. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a correctional environment, maintain appropriate professional boundaries, and effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to support individuals with complex behavioral health and social service needs. Under close supervision, learns the laws, policies and administrative procedures related to County Social Services programs; learns and applies the principles and techniques of interviewing, caseload organization and management and the use of community resources; learns and applies the principles and techniques of problem solving; learns to determine individual needs for services and develop appropriate treatment plans for a variety of socio-economic needs; carries a caseload of increasing size and difficulty; and performs other related work as assigned. Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the entry-level class in the social work series. Incumbents receive on-the-job training and close supervision and are gradually assigned caseloads. As incumbents acquire increased knowledge and abilities, they are expected to function more independently and carry a caseload of increasing size and difficulty.
This classification is distinguished from the next higher classification of Senior Social Worker in that the former is assigned caseloads, which are of simple to average difficulty, while the latter is assigned caseloads of average to complex difficulty. Education: Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units in Social Welfare, Sociology, Psychology or other Social/Human Services; AND Experience: One (1) year experience as an Eligibility Worker II; OR three (3) years experience as a Vocational Assistant; OR eighteen (18) months casework experience in a public or private Social Services Agency. License Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver's license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties.
