Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provide specialized obstetric and neonatal care in a high-acuity Labor & Delivery unit. Deliver comprehensive nursing services to support maternal and newborn health during active labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.

Responsibilities:

• Circulate during C-sections, ensuring adherence to surgical protocols and patient safety.
• Monitor and manage labor progression, fetal status, and maternal well-being using Meditech documentation.
• Administer medications and assist with various procedures such as immediate newborn care and recovery.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes.
• Maintain a sterile environment, including proper scrubbing, PPE, and adherence to dress code policies.
• Document all patient interactions, procedures, and care plans accurately in compliance with hospital standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid Texas RN license, with active status; temporary licenses not accepted.
• Minimum of 2 years of hospital experience in labor and delivery, including C-sections and PACU.
• Certification in BLS, NRP, and AWHONN required; advanced skills in C-section scrub preferred.
• Proficient in Meditech or similar documentation systems.
• Excellent patient communication skills, with a focus on bedside shift reports.
• Ability to work rotating weekends and adapt to unit-specific policies and procedures.
