NICET III Fire Alarm Engineer/Designer

The NICET III Fire Alarm Engineer / Designer will require excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, estimators, contractors, AHJs, and clients. Typical Duties Include: Review project specifications, bid documents, architectural drawings, and contract documents to determine system requirements. Design and layout fire alarm and life safety systems in accordance with NFPA 72, NFPA 101, NEC, IBC, and local AHJ requirements. Prepare complete fire alarm shop drawings, riser diagrams, battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, and equipment submittals. Select and specify fire alarm devices, control panels, notification appliances, network components, and ancillary equipment. Develop code compliant solutions for new construction, renovations, tenant improvements, and mission critical facilities. Support estimating and pre construction teams by providing conceptual designs and technical guidance. Review project plans and specifications to identify design conflicts and opportunities for value engineering. Coordinate permitting requirements and respond to AHJ review comments. Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with all applicable codes and standards. Required: Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Certification Requirements: NICET Level III Fire Alarm Systems Certification strongly preferred. NICET Level II candidates with significant design experience will be considered. Minimum of 5 years of fire alarm system design, engineering, layout, installation, or service experience. Strong experience designing and developing fire alarm system shop drawings and submittal packages. Experience performing battery calculations, voltage drop calculations, and device placement layouts. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revit, or similar design software. Experience with fire alarm manufacturers including Notifier, Fire-Lite, Siemens, Edwards/EST, Gamewell-FCI, Silent Knight, and Simplex. Ability to interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings and specifications. Strong understanding of networked fire alarm systems, voice evacuation systems, mass notification systems, and emergency communication systems. Experience supporting healthcare, education, government, industrial, or mission-critical facilities is highly preferred.
