DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Consistently supports and upholds the Co-op's core values and aligns with the Co-op Code of Conduct. Manages Café staff and programs to ensure prepared food and beverage items consistently meet quality and availability expectations. Together with the Café Manager, coordinates with the HR Department to hire and train qualified applicants following established polices. Establishes and maintains a training plan and materials for department staff. Communicates performance expectations and coordinates tasks and special projects for department staff. Participates in evaluating department staff by assisting with the completion of performance reviews. Keeps department staff informed of storewide and departmental news, policy/procedure changes and department performance with respect to measurable goals (margin, labor, sales, etc.) Assists Leads in writing effective department scheduling and ensuring staff breaks. Assists Café Manager in documenting performance issues and taking corrective action as needed, following established protocol. Assists with ensuring displays and coolers are regularly monitored for temperatures and items are replenished and rotated according to quality standards (e.g., dates) set in the department. Participates in department, storewide and other meetings as needed. Protects store assets by participating in periodic inventory, following established security practices and policies. Ensures the completion of established department procedures for each shift (i.e., prep lists, opening task lists, closing lists, etc.) Ensures merchandise is received and rotated according to established procedures, properly disposing of unsellable items, keeping accurate shrinkage records, and routing paperwork properly. Ensures items for sale are properly stored and labeled to comply with safety requirements and including a comprehensive ingredients list. Ensures health department regulations are followed for safety and sanitation purposes. Remains informed of new suppliers and sources by communicating with the Café Buyer. Assists with providing product information for customers and staff, as requested. Maintains attractive and fully stocked (and faced, where applicable) sections (shelves, bins, freezers, coolers, etc.). Assists Café Manager in researching and developing new recipes for seasonal/promotional offerings. Together with Café Manager, plans menu and creates ingredient lists, storage conditions, and labels that comply with food safety and other regulatory requirements. Investigates and resolve any complaints regarding food quality, service, or accommodations. Assists with back-up or fill-in buying. Other duties as assigned. RequirementsPREREQUISITES
High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience. A minimum of two (2) years' experience in a food service environment. A minimum of two (2) years' experience in leadership, including overseeing employees and schedules. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to project an outgoing, friendly personality. Demonstrates leadership skills and experience in conflict resolution. Adapts readily based on evolving co-op needs or in response to feedback. Maintains composure in highly stressful or adverse situations. Ability to evaluate work priorities and direct workflow. Ability to handle multiple demands. Knowledgeable of health department safety and sanitation regulations. Knowledgeable of specialty diets, food allergens, health and nutrition. Computer proficiency, familiarity with MS Office Suite, and experience with POS systems. Accuracy and high attention to detail. Flexibility to work any shift, including mornings, middays, evenings and/or weekends.ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must wear closed-toe, skid-resistant shoes; a head covering (hat, bandanna, etc.); and long pants. Ability to work in varying temperatures. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
