Assistant Controller

Century Group is partnering with a client that is seeking a Assistant Controller to join their team. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $200,000 to $230,000 per year.
Job Responsibilities Lead and supervise accounting personnel while ensuring accurate and timely completion of financial activities. Oversee property accounting operations, including financial reporting, budgeting support, and portfolio accounting functions. Review financial statements, journal entries, reconciliations, and consolidated reporting packages for accuracy and completeness. Coordinate audit, tax, and compliance activities while serving as a key point of contact for external service providers. Drive process improvements, staff development initiatives, and special projects that enhance operational effectiveness. Requirements A Bachelor degree in accounting or a related field with a concentration in accounting preferred. Maintain an active or inactive CPA credential or have successfully completed all CPA examination requirements. 10+ years of property accounting experience and at least five years of leadership experience. Demonstrate strong knowledge of accounting standards, financial reporting practices, and real estate accounting principles. Possess experience using property accounting software systems and advanced Microsoft Excel functionality. Qualifications Apply strong analytical and problem solving skills to evaluate financial information and resolve complex accounting matters. Demonstrate exceptional leadership abilities through team development, coaching, workload management, and performance oversight. Communicate effectively with executives, auditors, consultants, and cross functional stakeholders. Maintain excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment. Bring experience with property management platforms, process improvement initiatives, and large real estate portfolios considered beneficial.
