NP, Nurse Practitioner/PA, Physician Assistant - Hematology/Oncology

Job Summary

We are seeking a confident and highly motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Hematology/Oncology team in Shreveport, LA . This is a fast-paced position offering a combination of outpatient oncology clinic and inpatient rounding , working closely with an experienced team of physicians and advanced practice providers.

The APP will also have the opportunity to help support and develop a High-Risk Breast Clinic , providing care and ongoing surveillance for patients at increased risk for breast cancer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Hematology/Oncology physicians in a busy outpatient clinic
  • Evaluate and manage patients with a variety of hematologic and oncologic conditions
  • Participate in rotating inpatient hospital coverage and rounding
  • Provide care for patients through the High-Risk Breast Clinic
  • Monitor treatment plans and help ensure patients are progressing appropriately through therapy
  • Assist with oversight and follow-up of patients receiving infusion therapy
  • Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic testing
  • Provide patient and family education throughout diagnosis and treatment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
  • Collaborate closely with physicians, nursing staff, infusion teams, and other members of the care team

Qualifications

  • Current Louisiana license or eligibility for licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • National certification (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
  • Previous Hematology/Oncology experience preferred
  • Strong clinical judgment and confidence managing medically complex patients
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills
  • Comfortable caring for patients with serious and complex illnesses throughout the continuum of cancer care

Schedule & Compensation

  • Full-time position
  • Typical schedule approximately 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
  • Rotating clinic and inpatient responsibilities
  • Fridays typically consist of a lighter patient schedule with a focus on infusion support and select High-Risk Breast Clinic patients
