Robert Half has partnered with a highly successful and growing private family office in the New Haven area in search of a Staff Accountant. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accounting records and financial statements for multiple trusts, LLCs, partnerships, and other entities. This is a hands-on role within a small team where everyone wears multiple hats. The successful candidate will be professional, highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with sensitive financial information. This position will report to the Controller and Accounting Manager and will interact with family office management, investment teams, external accountants, attorneys, and other advisors. The ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and maintain general ledger accounting records for multiple entities.
• Prepare bank reconciliations, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Handle bill payment and related cash management activities.
• Record investment activity using information from underlying investments and investment reporting systems.
• Assist with payroll processing for family-owned companies.
• Prepare cash projections, budgets, and forecasts as needed.
• Prepare accounting workpapers to support tax return preparation and compliance.
• Assist with 1099 reporting and tax-related accounting activities.
• Maintain accurate and organized files and supporting documentation.
• Assist with process improvements and development of accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Work closely with internal management and external service providers to resolve accounting and financial reporting matters.
• Provide support to the broader family office team and assist with other projects as needed.

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• 2+ Years of accounting experience in public accounting, financial services, or corporate accounting.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technology skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Family office, banking, private equity, real estate investment, or investment accounting experience.
• Experience working within an integrated Accounting System.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience preparing tax workpapers.
• Experience working with investment entities, trusts, partnerships, or LLCs.
• Interest or experience working with AI and emerging accounting technologies.
