Teacher - Middle School English Language Arts

Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team at Endeavour 5-8 as a Middle School English Language Arts Teacher. The ideal candidate will foster a love for reading and writing while developing critical thinking and communication skills in students. This full-time position requires a creative and engaging approach to teaching, ensuring that all students are motivated and supported in their learning journey.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and curriculum guidelines for English Language Arts.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, collaboration, and respect.
- Assess and evaluate student progress through a variety of methods, including tests, assignments, and projects, providing timely feedback to students and parents.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with special needs and English language learners.
- Integrate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning experiences and promote digital literacy.
- Collaborate with colleagues to create interdisciplinary units and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic needs.
- Maintain an organized and safe classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Participate in school events, meetings, and committees as required.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in English Language Arts for middle school.
- Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
- Strong understanding of middle school curriculum and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and parents.

Terms of Employment: School year as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association.


Compensation: Appropriate placement on the salary schedule as defined in the written agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Education Association which can be found at under the transparency page.


Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the policy of the Board of Education and Administrative Guidelines.
