Sr. Process Engineer

PURPOSE AND ROLE

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for providing technical and daily refinery operations support, as well as troubleshooting refinery processes. This position recommends, develops, and implements improvements to improve refinery operations in a team environment with other refinery disciplines.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Unit monitoring and optimization Perform daily unit monitoring and troubleshooting to optimize process unit operating performance Support operations and provide technical guidance to achieve unit operation targets and KPI’s Understand key operating limits and unit constraints Perform monthly unit health reports to highlight short- and long-term process opportunities Develop and support test runs, data collection and analysis Drive asset improvement in areas of safety, environmental, reliability and process capacity Identify and develop recommendations for process changes and projects to improve unit operation Process Safety Management Responsible for developing and maintaining a major portion of the site’s Process Safety Information including Heat and Material balances, Pressure Relief Valve documentation, Safe Operating Limits, Maximum Intended Inventory, etc. Support PSM activities including Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis, Incident Investigations, Alarm Rationalization, Risk Assessment, etc. Other Task Respond to plant operational events and provide support for planned and unplanned unit outages Support site turnaround activities including scope submission, planning, and execution Communicate regularly with Operation, Economics & Planning and Maintenance teams Must be able to work at various heights, confined spaces and be able to climb towers and vessels Provide mentorship to aid in development of junior process engineers Assist

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering Minimum of 5+ years process engineering experience required Strong refining unit operations and process calculations, including heat exchanger principles, distillation principles, fluid flow principles, and reaction principles Ability to lead technical communications effectively at all levels of an organization

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
