Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS & ACLS Must-Have: PCU experience Knowledge of cardiac rhythms and surgical patients Chest tube management Epidural management Description: General Comments: The unit consists of 15 beds and has a team of 22 staff members, including RNs and PCTs. Staffing for day shift includes 3-4 RNs, 2 PCTs, and 1 Clinical Coordinator. Night shift has 3-4 RNs and 1 PCT on duty. Patient ratios are 4-5 patients per RN. The unit is equipped with cardiac telemetry and manages patients with chest tubes and various cardiac drips. Post-cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, device placements, groin management, and post-operative surgical patients are typical cases treated. Epidurals and PCA management are also included in the care provided. Ideal candidates are outgoing, team-oriented, and willing to go above and beyond for patients. Time management skills are essential due to high turnover of patients. Preferred skills include teamwork abilities.
