Elevator Mechanic (Consultant)

We are seeking a skilled Elevator Mechanic with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience to install and maintain digital screens inside elevator cabs and lobbies across New York City. Licensed and unlicensed candidates are welcome to apply. What you'll do: Execute installations within scheduled access windows coordinated by the operations team, using proper lockout/tagout procedures to stop the elevator safely, ensuring all work is completed on time and elevator service is fully restored upon completion Install digital screens inside elevator cabs and lobbies using mounting methods that are fully non-invasive — the only interface with the elevator is a single power connection; no modifications to mechanical, electrical control, or safety systems of any kind Ensure all installations comply with ASME A17.1 cab interior requirements and NYC DOB standards, with zero impact on elevator certification or inspection status Assess each elevator cab prior to installation to confirm that screen placement, cable management, and mounting hardware meet code requirements and will not trigger re-inspection obligations Route and manage power connections cleanly and professionally, maintaining full separation from elevator control and operational wiring Work with building staff to coordinate access as needed; familiarity with building protocols and elevator maintenance vendors is a plus Troubleshoot screen hardware, power connections, and content delivery systems post-installation Maintain detailed installation records for each property, including photos, cab dimensions, mounting specifications, and completion documentation Who you are: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience working inside elevator cabs, mechanical rooms, or related building systems — licensed and unlicensed candidates are welcome to apply Strong understanding of elevator cab interior standards and NYC DOB requirements as they relate to non-structural modifications Experience working alongside or coordinating with elevator maintenance companies preferred Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in elevator pits as needed Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and performing physically demanding installation work Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to clean, professional workmanship Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently across multiple properties Strong communication skills for coordinating with building staff and management Licenses & Certifications: NYC Elevator Mechanic License issued by the NYC Department of Buildings is a plus but not required OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification preferred Valid New York State driver's license We offer comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees, including: Healthcare: Medical coverage to keep you and your family healthy (employer covered premiums up to 100%) Dental: Comprehensive dental plan Vision: Vision coverage for eye care and eyewear Talkspace Therapy Package: Access to mental health support Commuter Benefits: Assistance for in-office employees' commuting costs Short-Term Disability: Financial protection in case of temporary disability 401(k): Retirement savings plan with company match Paid Time Off (PTO): Generous leave for vacation, personal time, and holidays The pay range for this position is $90,000–$150,000 + bonus; however, the base pay may vary depending on the final negotiated consulting agreement, job related knowledge, skills, candidate location, and experience.
