Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Women's Care Unit

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on an 18-bed Medical Surgical Women's Care Unit, managing a patient population that includes hysterectomy, mastectomy, postpartum (mothers only), and general medical/surgical cases
• Maintain a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, delivering safe and effective care across assigned patients
• Initiate and titrate drips including heparin and insulin protocols
• Perform clinical skills including NG tube placement, Foley catheter placement, and blood administration
• Collaborate with charge nurses, housing supervisors, and patient care technicians to ensure unit operations and patient safety
• Float to other general medical units as needed based on staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical nursing experience
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Demonstrated proficiency with NG placement, Foley placement, blood administration, and heparin and insulin drip management
• Ability to titrate drips per protocol

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience caring for postpartum patients and women's health surgical populations
• Familiarity with CPAP equipment and respiratory therapy support in a medical/surgical setting
• Experience working in units with telemetry monitoring (strip reading not required)
