Candidates must meet the radius rule of 50 miles and cannot be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with associated facilities. A driver's license is required for identification purposes. Artificial nails are not permitted in patient care departments. Candidates must pass an open book exam with a 90% score during orientation to avoid termination. The ICU consists of 34 beds with nurse-patient ratios of 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:4-5 for PCU. Common patient diagnoses include neuro surgery, respiratory failure, sepsis, stroke, and general surgery among others. RNs are required to titrate various drips including vasopressors and sedation. Charge nurses are present on each shift and are involved in rapid response teams and codes. There are nurse aids/patient care techs to assist with duties. RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips. The unit operates on a set schedule managed by the unit manager. Weekend and holiday requirements apply. Floating to all inpatient units, excluding specific departments, is necessary. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs. Candidates should be collaborative and actively engage with team members and providers. All requested time off must be submitted upfront and additional time off may not be approved. The facility may cancel up to four shifts per 13-week assignment if necessary. The charting system used is EPIC.
