Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid RN license Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Telemetry experience Ability to read EKGs Ability to handle a fast-paced unit with several admissions, discharges, transfers, and procedures Description: This position is for a Cardiac Telemetry Unit. The unit has 25 beds and consists of day and night staff including charge nurses, registered nurses, secretarial staff, and techs. The patient ratio is 4:1. Equipment used includes EKG machines, Hoyer lifts, and LifePak devices. The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech. Candidates must possess problem-solving skills and good judgment. They should be able to prioritize and modify patient care in response to changing conditions. Communication with physicians regarding patient condition changes is essential. Typical procedures performed on the unit include EKGs. Most cardiac procedures take place in the Cath Lab rather than on the unit. The ideal candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude. There is a low probability of floating to Med Surg. The dress code consists of navy scrubs. Weekend and on-call responsibilities include every third Friday and Saturday from 19:00 to 07:00, plus an additional Friday or Saturday each schedule. Assistance will be needed for Halloween, the Friday after Thanksgiving, and Christmas night.
