General Position Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and sanitation of the SAGE Center and Event Center, ensuring all spaces including exhibits, restrooms, classrooms, offices, and event areas are clean, safe, and welcoming. This role includes routine and deep cleaning, restocking supplies, and providing janitorial support during large community events, requiring strong attention to detail, reliability, and a commitment to creating a positive experience for all visitors, staff, and guests.

Essential Functions/major responsibilities:

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, taking out the garbage, cleaning inside of windows, dusting desks, refilling paper products and cleaning bathrooms.

·         Conference Rooms upstairs and downstairs

·         Restrooms

·         Think Big Space Classroom

·         Theater

·         Event Center

·         Exhibit areas

Secondary Functions:

This position is the custodian for the SAGE Center and Event Center and assists at large events with both janitorial tasks and general event support. Because this role is often customer-facing, staff are encouraged to wear professional, approachable attire such as a polo along with clean, practical clothing and closed-toed shoes. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory Responsibility:

·This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Specific Job Skills:

·         Demonstrate enthusiasm and desire to serve SAGE Center visitors with excellent customer service.

·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with SAGE Center staff, volunteers, and the public.

·         Must be able to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

·         Will be required to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen.

·         Must be at least 18 years of age

·         Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

·         Previous experience preferred, but not required

·         Ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50lbs).

·         Strong attendance and work ethic background

·         Team player with an outgoing customer service-oriented personality

Job Conditions:

·         Candidate will be required to work alone mostly and without supervision.  Hours will be nights or after-hours when 

the facility is closed.

·         Occasional lifting of light boxes may be necessary, but the requirement is minimal

·         While the majority of tasks are conducted indoors, there may be occasional instances where working outdoors is

required.
