They are the unsung heroes who ensure the safety and well-being of our students and help provide priceless access to education.Job Description:Greet students, show them to their seats, help students with fastening/unfastening seat beltsPerform harness hook-up and wheelchair securementEnsure safety of students getting on/off the busAlways remember you're working with special needs students, you may need to assist the bus driver with various tasksRequirements:Able to work from 6:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. (Hours are subject to change depending on the daily assignment)Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance recordMust be able to interact well with students of all agesMust be able to interact well with colleaguesSome experience working with special needs students preferredAble to push/pull, bend – minor lifting from time to time is possible (Up to 50 pounds)Must obey all state and federal laws and regulations for securing studentsHigh school diploma or GED certificate requiredMust pass background check and a physical examinationResponsibilities:Must be willing to attend first available CPI training when availableBe knowledgeable of the safety rules and regulationsManage appropriate student behaviorsPractice clear, concise direction for studentAssist with student data sheet and incident reportingHelp maintain a clean orderly bus environmentConditions of Employment: The employee's salary and working conditions are in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Professional Agreement between the Livonia Public Schools School District and the Livonia Paraprofessionals' Association.
