Insurance Account Representative

Derek DeLisle State Farm is looking for an Insurance Account Representative who can build relationships, uncover customer needs, and contribute on both the sales and service sides of the agency. Derek has operated his Hayward agency since 2010, building an established book of approximately 3,300 households and 9,000 policies. Because this is a busy office with significant walk-in traffic, this position is best suited for someone who enjoys interacting with customers throughout the day and can move comfortably between helping an existing customer and pursuing a new sales opportunity. Derek prefers an already-licensed candidate, but licensing is not the only thing that matters. A smart, hardworking candidate with a solid sales background and the ability to become licensed will also be considered. Team fit, loyalty, work ethic, and personality matter.

What You'll Do:

• Develop relationships with new and existing customers.
• Identify insurance needs and appropriate opportunities for additional products.
• Follow up with leads, referrals, and prospective customers.
• Assist customers with policy and account needs as permitted by licensing.
• Conduct customer account reviews.
• Support retention while identifying appropriate cross-selling opportunities.
• Work toward individual and agency production goals.
• Handle both sales and service responsibilities as part of a hybrid team.
• Maintain accurate records and consistent customer follow-up.
• Assist walk-in customers and contribute wherever needed in the office.

Qualifications:

• Experience in sales (outside sales or inside sales representative, retail sales associate, or telemarketing) preferred.
• Experience in managing customer relationships preferred.
• Interest in marketing products and services based on customer needs.
• Communication skills - written, verbal, and listening.
• Dedicated to customer service.
• Able to anticipate customer needs.
• Able to effectively relate to customers.
• Property & Casualty license (must be able to obtain).

Insurance licensing is preferred, particularly candidates who can begin contributing quickly. Strong sales professionals willing to obtain the necessary licenses will also be considered. The successful candidate will be personable, dependable, competitive, organized, and comfortable working in a performance-driven environment without losing sight of customer service.

The office has an established customer base and considerable walk-in activity, creating regular opportunities to build relationships and uncover customer needs. There is also meaningful upside for someone who performs. Starting base pay is approximately $35,000, with performance bonus opportunities every six months for those who qualify. Derek reported that one current team member is earning approximately $70,000–$80,000 annually, demonstrating the earning potential that can exist for a strong performer. Individual earnings will vary and are not guaranteed. Licensed candidates may qualify for a sign-on bonus, while eligible employees who become licensed may qualify for a licensing bonus. Paid time off is provided. Health insurance and retirement benefits are not currently offered.

Compensation: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
