NYC Parks is the steward of more than 30,000 acres of land 14 percent of New York City including more than 5,000 individual properties ranging from Coney Island Beach and Central Park to community gardens and Greenstreets. We operate more than 800 athletic fields and nearly 1,000 playgrounds, 1,800 basketball courts, 550 tennis courts, 65 public pools, 51 recreational facilities, 15 nature centers, 14 golf courses and 14 miles of beaches. We care for 1,200 monuments and 23 historic house museums. We look after 660,000 street trees, and five million more in parks. We are New York City's principal providers of recreational and athletic facilities and programs. We are home to free concerts, world-class sports events, and cultural festivals. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES - Under direct supervision, maintain, adjust and repair building hardware and equipment. - Conduct general maintenance of properties and facilities, including refuse material. - Inspect facilities and properties, make repairs and remove graffiti. - Make minor repairs to masonry, woodwork, flooring and walls. - Make minor repairs to building electrical, plumbing and heating systems. - Keep accurate logs and records of daily activities. Duration: July 5, 2026 to January 5, 2027 (40 hours per week) Work Location: TBD Fees: Hired candidates will be subject to a processing fee of $40.00. Hired candidates who are not currently employed by the City will be subject to a $104.50 background check fee.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Three years of full-time satisfactory experience as a mechanic, journeyperson or helper in the electrical trades, the mechanical trades, or the construction or maintenance of buildings; or 2. At least two years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above plus sufficient full-time training or education in the electrical, mechanical or construction trades in a trade school, technical school or vocational high school to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience. Six months of experience will be credited for each year of full-time acceptable training or education.

Preferred Skills

1. Valid New York State driver license. 2. Excellent communication skills. 3. Proficiency with computer software and the ability to use handheld devices. 4. Ability to work flexible hours, nights and weekends as needed. 5. Strong customer service, organizational and communication skills.

Residency Requirement

Residency in New York City, Nassau, Orange, Rockland, Suffolk, Putnam or Westchester counties required for employees with over two years of city service. New York City residency required within 90 days of hire for all other candidates.
