Travel Respiratory Therapist - Registered RT/RRT

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience and pediatric background for an evening shift assignment at a Level III trauma center.

Job Details

• Short-term acute care Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds,
• Part of the Yale New Haven Health System,
• Respiratory therapy unit supporting adult critical care, emergency department, NICU, and pediatrics,
• Evening shift, 4x10 hour shifts (14:45-0:45),
• 40 hours per week with 8 and/or 12 hour shifts based on department need,
• Evening and/or night shifts required,
• Weekend rotation at least every other weekend,
• Holiday rotation at least every other holiday,
• Floating to Westerly Hospital as needed,
• Uses Epic charting system,

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience required in specialty,
• Pediatrics experience required,
• CT and RI state licenses required (license required if applicable; can start with one active and one pending),
• BLS certification required,
• CRT certification required,
• RRT certification preferred,
• Epic charting experience preferred,
• 1 professional reference required,
• Experience with NICU and pediatric equipment/procedures preferred, including bubble CPAP, CPAP/nasal CPAP/BIPAP, and umbilical blood gases,
• Skills in ventilator management, ABG interpretation, airway management, and pulmonary hygiene,

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include oxygen therapy, ventilator management, airway suctioning, and pulmonary hygiene care,
• Experience with intubation assist, chest physiotherapy, and tracheostomy care preferred,
• Care for infants and children with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) may be required,
• Navy blue scrubs required,
• Free parking available,
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital site,
• Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler,
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved,
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted,
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions available only for religious or medical reasons,
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
