Barnes Aerospace Ogden Division has an exciting opportunity for an NDT Inspector. The candidate will be responsible for control of the processes and operations within their respective area. This position reports to the Production Manager.

Shift: 1st Shift / 6:00am-3:30pm Monday through Thursday with alternating Friday 6:00am-2:30pm

The NDT LII Inspector conducts nondestructive testing on materials, parts, and products using Fluorescent Penetrant, and/or Film Radiography inspection to detect surface or internal discontinuities throughout the manufacturing cycle. This role requires interpreting engineering drawings, codes, standards, and contractual documents to ensure compliance with inspection requirements. The Inspector utilizes a variety of inspection and measuring equipment, plans and performs complex work processes, and communicates effectively with all levels of employees. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency in NDT methods, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment while maintaining high-quality standards. Candidates must have a strong manufacturing background, relevant NDT certifications.

Core Responsibilities:

• Perform Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) and Radiographic Testing (RT) in accordance with applicable NAS 410, customer, and engineering requirements.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and NDT procedures to determine appropriate inspection methods and acceptance criteria.
• Conduct NDT inspections on aerospace components and assemblies to detect surface and internal discontinuities.
• Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain FPI and RT inspection equipment in accordance with approved procedures.
• Evaluate, interpret, and document inspection indications and determine acceptability based on applicable specifications and standards.
• Complete accurate inspection reports, NDT documentation, traceability records, and nonconformance documentation.
• Perform required equipment and process checks, including system performance verification and calibration requirements.
• Maintain compliance with NAS 410, customer specifications, approved procedures, and applicable quality requirements.
• Identify and communicate inspection discrepancies, questionable indications, and nonconforming conditions to appropriate quality and engineering personnel.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and controlled work environment while following radiation safety, chemical handling, PPE, and company safety requirements.

• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Qualifications:

• Minimum three (3) years of manufacturing background in nondestructive testing in the Aerospace industry (preferred)
• Must be able to pass a required annual vision test, all in house testing for recertification of Level 2's, and customer test when required.

• NAS 410 Level II certified NDT Technician with experience performing Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI) and Radiographic Testing (RT) on aerospace components and assemblies.
• Skilled in identifying, interpreting, and evaluating surface and subsurface discontinuities using established inspection techniques and acceptance criteria in wrought material with knowledge or sand casting indications.
• Experienced in FPI processing, including pre-cleaning, penetrant application, dwell time, removal, developer application, inspection, and post-cleaning.
• Experienced in RT inspection and evaluation, including radiographic image interpretation and identification of relevant indications.
• Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, NDT procedures, and acceptance standards.
• Proficient in operating, calibrating, and performing required equipment and process checks for NDT inspection systems.
• Knowledgeable in maintaining accurate inspection records, traceability documentation, test reports, and nonconformance documentation.
• Strong commitment to safety, quality, procedural compliance, attention to detail, and aerospace industry standards.
• Knowledge of radiation safety practices, chemical handling requirements, PPE, and controlled inspection environments.
• Able to work independently while maintaining high levels of accuracy, productivity, and inspection integrity.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
