Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC/PCU/Stepdown (IMCU Float Pool)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 3x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Up to 2 weekends per month required | Holidays required | Float pool position with floating to MedSurg based on patient volume

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Intermediate Medical Care Unit (IMCU), a step-down/progressive care unit where the majority of patients receive telemetry monitoring
• Manage common IV drips including Heparin, Nitroglycerin, Cardizem, and Amiodarone within established unit parameters and protocols
• Float to MedSurg units as needed based on patient census and volume demands
• Care for occasional pediatric patients as part of the unit's patient population; comfort and competency with pediatric care is required
• Document and manage patient care using EPIC EMR
• Maintain a patient ratio of up to 5:1 on a 24-bed unit with an average census of 20–24 patients

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of IMCU/telemetry nursing experience
• Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience required
• Active North Carolina RN license or valid Compact RN license required (at minimum pending with a clearly stated ETA)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required (BLS, ACLS, and PALS must be AHA-issued; all certifications must remain current throughout the contract)
• Recent and proficient EPIC EMR experience required
• Telemetry skills required
• Must reside at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible; driver's license required for address verification prior to offer acceptance

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience managing Heparin titration protocols in a step-down or progressive care setting
• Familiarity with critical care escalation criteria and ICU transfer protocols
• Experience floating across multiple units within a hospital setting
• Prior experience caring for pediatric patients in an acute or step-down environment
