Faculty Specialist I - Counseling Specialist - Tenure Track Salary Range Commensurate with experience. Generous benefit package. General Summary This faculty specialist I position will serve as a faculty member in the counselor education unit, the clinical coordinator within the unit, and as a liaison between the site supervisors, students, and the unit. Opportunities for summer work may arise. Faculty specialists are responsible for teaching and service roles for a total of 15 credit hours per semester and includes summer responsibilities. The roles include teaching general and clinical graduate courses, serving as a clinical coordinator and completes graduate student advising. The clinical coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the practicum and internship experiences. They work collaboratively with the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCPS) directors and administrative support staff who perform the administrative aspects of clinical experiences within the department. The department supports two counseling clinics, in Kalamazoo and 1 hour north in Grand Rapids. The clinical coordinator works closely with the Counselor Education Unit Director and reports to the Chair of the Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology Department. Major Duties Teach university graduate courses in general counseling and clinical courses including CE 6045 Counseling Techniques; CE 6855 Theories of Counseling; CE 6615 Foundations Systemic Family Therapy; CE 6132 Internship II; and CE 7121 Doctoral Internship I: Supervision and Counseling. Serve as a faculty member in the counselor education unit and the clinical coordinator within the unit. Responsible for teaching and service roles for a total of 15 credit hours per semester, including teaching general and clinical graduate courses, serving as clinical coordinator, and graduate student advising. Coordinate the practicum and internship experiences, and work with the Center for Counseling and Psychological Services (CCPS) directors and staff. Coordinate the administrative aspects of clinical experiences within the department from the application process to assisting with class assignments. Maintain ongoing communication with site supervisors to ensure compliance with all departmental expectations for students’ clinical experiences and to support site supervisors’ roles. Advise graduate students and serve on departmental committees. Minimum Qualifications Doctor of Philosophy degree from an accredited institution. Major Field of Study in Counselor Education. Twelve months of full-time experience managing clinical counseling services or training in a university setting. Experience teaching counseling techniques, counseling theories, field practicum and internship supervision. Limited licensed counselor license in the State of Michigan.
