Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring Cerner and prior travel experience.

Details

• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital delivering 100-200 births per month
• Care for antepartum, high-risk antepartum, labor and delivery, LDRP, and mother/baby patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
• Required to work every third weekend
• Candidates may float to all competent units within the facility
• Cerner EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required at time of submittal
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate required (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
• CPI certification required starting January 2026
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required, Level 2 experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Trauma Level II experience required, Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Skills required include administration of blood/blood products, CVC/PICC line maintenance, peripheral IV starting/maintenance, and medication administration (anticonvulsants, antihypertensives, heparin, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, oxytocin)
• Additional required skills include assisting with circumcision, car seat education, cord care, discharge teaching, IV antibiotics, newborn assessment, neonatal abstinence syndrome care, pain management, couplet care, incision care, isolation precautions, phlebotomy, and vaccine administration
• Copy of certifications required for consideration
• At least one reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including high-risk delivery assistance, vaginal delivery assistance, C-section circulation, and postpartum care
• Utilize fetal monitoring skills including external and internal fetal monitoring, IUPC placement/calibration, and spiral electrode placement
• Preferred skills include phototherapy, thermoregulation, care of large for gestational age and low birth weight infants, pain management with epidurals and PCA IV, and breastfeeding pump support
• Preferred experience includes teaching hospital and community hospital settings
• Unit scrub color is navy blue
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restriction
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Previous employees must have a break in service of at least one year to be eligible for return
• HealthStream training modules must be completed prior to start, with candidates responsible for monitoring email for module assignments and meeting all deadlines
