Position Title - Graduate Admissions Specialist/DSO

Position Overview - This position processes domestic and international graduate admission applications by compiling documentation, including academic and personal information, evaluating academic records and supporting documentation to prepare files for departmental admission approval or denial, assigning appropriate decision, assisting telephone and walk-in client contacts, and providing research necessary in support of administrative decision making. This position also provides guidance and assistance regarding program rules, requirements and regulations to office and graduate program staff and prospective applicants. Reviews eligibility for issuance of immigration documents. Provides support to the overall COGS admission and student support team.

Position Qualifications

Required Experience - Experience compiling and analyzing information from electronic sourcesExperience exercising independent judgement and discretionExperience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches and data organization

Required Education - High School Diploma Or Equivalent

Required Other - Must be a US citizen or permanent residentMust be eligible to serve as a Designated School Official

Additional Preferred - Bachelor's degree in education, social sciences, humanities or STEMExperience evaluating domestic and international transcripts and credentialsExperience with SEVISExperience working in an admissions officeExperience with Student Record System and/or electronic application systemExperience working cooperatively as part of a team with students, faculty, staff and administratorsEvidence of effective communication skills
